Zambia soccer team declares ready for Africa Cup of Nations finals

Head coach of the Zambia national soccer team Honour Janza has declared the team ready for the Africa Cup of Nations finals which kick off on Saturday in Equatorial Guinea, the Zambia Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.

The Chipolopolo, who are currently camped in South Africa preparing for Africa's soccer showpiece, are expected to depart for Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday.

The Zambian trainer said that all his players were ready for challenge."I can safely declare the team ready for the tournament. We have had a good training camp here in South Africa and all the players are looking sharp," he was quoted as saying by the paper.

The trainer said the team's first target was to go past the group stage.

He hoped that the team will do the country proud during the tournament and that the good performance may even harmonize and contribute to the holding of a peaceful presidential election on Jan. 20.

The 2012 Africa Cup winners are in Group B alongside Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of Congo and Tunisia. They will play their first game on Sunday. Endi
