China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 3,235.30 points Tuesday, up 0.19 percent.

Total turnover: 273.59 billion yuan (44.85 billion U.S. dollars) .

BEIJING -- The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 11,355.81 points Tuesday, up 0.63 percent.

Total turnover: 196.66 billion yuan (32.24 billion U.S. dollars) .

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower on Tuesday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 3. 81 points, or 0.2 percent, to 1,917.14 at the close. Trading volume stood at 335.78 million shares worth 4.79 trillion won (4. 42 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks fell 0.64 percent Tuesday following a decline in Wall Street shares as crude oil prices continued to sink to more than five-year lows.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 110.02 points, or 0. 64 percent, from Friday at 17,087.71. The market was closed Monday for a national holiday.

The turnover was 2,247.9 billion yen (about 18.84 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian sharemarket weakened for a second successive day, with low oil prices hitting the energy sector.

At the market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 18 points, or 0.33 percent, at 5,404.7 points while the wider All Ordinaries index was down 17.4 points, or 0.32 percent, at 5,382.1 points.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.55 percent higher on Tuesday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 40. 64 points to 7,399.00. The all-share index went up by 18.03 points, or 0.42 percent, to 4,338.70.

Trading volume reached 2.15 billion shares worth 8.93 billion pesos (199.05 million U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed up 0.58 percent on Tuesday with the weighted index up 53.58 points at 9,231.80, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

Turnover totaled 91.44 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.87 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 189.51 points, or 0.79 percent to 24,215.97 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 23,908.23 and 24, 254.11. Turnover totaled 84.85 billion HK dollars (about 10.91 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 580.6 points on Tuesday, up 6.28 points or 1.09 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 111.664 million shares worth 2.082 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (97.05 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 134 stocks went up, 80 stocks fell down, while 70 stocks remained unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 85.18 points on Tuesday, up 0.46 points or 0.55 percent, against the previous trading session.

A total of over 48.539 million shares worth over 748.159 billion Vietnamese dong (around 35.04 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, an increase of 2.38 percent in volume and 19.89 percent in value against the previous trading session.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSEX (Dhaka Stock Exchange) Broad Index closed Tuesday 4,969.733 points, up 12.81 points or about 0.26 percent from Monday.

Among a total of 311 issues traded, 163 registered gains and 116 incurred losses while 32 remained unchanged.

Total turnover decreased to about 4.05 billion taka (about 51. 92 million U.S. dollars) on Tuesday from about 4.17 billion taka ( about 53.46 million U.S. dollars) on Monday.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Tuesday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,748.90, up 13. 82 points or 0.79 percent, and the Emas was at 12,011.74, up 90.41 points or 0.75 percent.

Turnover increased to 1.90 billion shares valued at 2.11 billion ringgit Malaysia (586.93 million U.S. dollars), compared with 1.36 billion shares valued at 1.46 billion ringgit Malaysia ( 409.19 million U.S. dollars) on Monday.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 3.82 points, or 0.11 percent, to close at 3,341.07.

A total of 1.39 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 18 billion Singapore dollars (944 million U.S. dollars).

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed higher by 26.43 points, or 0.51 percent, to a level of 5,214.36 on Tuesday.

Some 278,232 transactions were booked, involving 10.95 billion shares worth 7.82 trillion rupiah (about 620.23 million U.S. dollars).

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Tuesday down 0.42 percent against the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 5.91 points to 1,404.25. A total of 2,196,823 shares worth about 15.3 billion Lao kip (about 1.89 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Tuesday moved up 3.76 points, or 0.25 percent to close at 1,534.97 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian stocks Tuesday shed nearly 160 points despite the fact that key economic data on industrial production and inflation renewed India Inc.'s hopes for a lending rates cut.
