Angola, Portugal to hold business forum in Luanda

Angola and Portugal decided on Monday to hold a business forum in Luanda during the first quarter of this year to discuss economic relations between the two countries.

The decision was made at a meeting between Angolan Foreign Minister Georges Chikoti and his visiting Portuguese counterpart Rui Machete.

The business forum was expected to focus on investments, exports, imports between businessmen from both countries, Machete told reporters after the meeting, adding that the event was to contribute to the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

However, the Portuguese minister stressed there was no misunderstanding between Lisbon and Luanda, at least at the level of ministries and governments.

During the meeting, the two foreign ministers also decided to intensify actions in the framework of the joint bilateral commission to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries .

For his part, Chikoti said the meeting assessed relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of cooperation, regular political consultations within the frameworks of the Community of Portuguese Language Speaking Countries, the United Nations and other international forums.

Machete arrived in Luanda earlier on Monday for a three-day work visit. Endi
