U.S., partners conducts 27 airstrikes against IS in Syria, Iraq

The United States and its allies conducted a total of 27 airstrikes against Islamic State ( IS) forces in Syria and Iraq within a 24-hour period, the U.S. Department of Defense said in a statement Monday.

In Syria, the 11 air raids, which took place between Sunday morning to Monday morning, destroyed two large IS units, 10 fighting positions, five buildings, two staging positions near Kobani, an excavator near Abu Kamai and an oil refinery near Dawr az Zawr.

Meanwhile, the other 16 airstrikes in Iraq destroyed nine IS tactical units, 12 fighting positions, a tactical unit, 11 armored vehicles, five buildings, three boats, an artillery system and a rocket launcher. Endite
