The Polish ministry of foreign affairs informed on Monday that 179 people of Polish origin, who were evacuated from dangerous areas in Eastern Ukraine to Kharkov are coming to Poland in the next few days.

According to foreign ministry spokesman Marcin Wojciechowski, the hopes are that visas issued under the so-called Polish Charter, a document confirming one's belonging to the Polish nation, will be completed in the upcoming days. The next stage will be bringing the evacuated to Poland.

The evacuees are mostly families with children, adults, and elderly people.

They will be transported by plane to various centers in Poland, where non-governmental institutions as well as the Office for Foreigners will take care of them by providing Polish language courses, vocational courses, compulsory schooling for children as well as health care.

The evacuation from the area of conflict included Polish people or people of Polish descent who cannot obtain dual citizenship while living in foreign countries, and their families. Enditem
