Schalke to sign Manchester City's Matija Nastasic on loan

Xinhua, January 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Schalke is on the verge of signing Manchester City's Matija Nastasic on loan until the end of the season, the "Royal Blues" confirmed in an official statement on Monday.

The 21-year-old defender, who has a contract with the English Premier League side Manchester City until June 2017, will reinforce Schalke's team until June 2015 as both sides agreed on a loan deal. The contract will be signed as soon as Nastasic passed the medical.

The Serbian international joined Manchester City from Italian side AC Florenz in August 2012 to pen a five-year deal. He made since his arrival in 2012 one goal in 34 appearances.

Nastasic is besides that since February 2012 part of Serbia national soccer team where he made 14 caps to date.

Schalke sits currently on the 5th place of the Bundesliga standings, in touching distance to the UEFA Champions League spots. Endi
