Bangladesh appoints new chief justice

Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid has appointed Justice SK Sinha as the new chief justice of the country.

Bangladesh's Law Ministry has issued a gazette notification regarding the appointment on Monday.

The appointment will come into effect on Jan. 17, as incumbent Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain is set to retire on Jan. 16.

Surendra Kuman Sinha, well known as SK Sinha, is the first non- Muslim to become the country's top judge. Endi
