UN Security Council slams bomb attack in northern Lebanon

Xinhua, January 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

The UN Security Council on Sunday condemned "in the strongest terms" the twin suicide bomb attack in Tripoli, Lebanon.

In a press statement, the Security Council urged all states to cooperate actively with the Lebanese authorities to bring perpetrators to justice.

The Security Council appealed to all Lebanese people to preserve national unity in the face of attempts to undermine the country's stability, and urged all Lebanese parties to respect Lebanon's policy of disassociation and to refrain from any involvement in the Syrian crisis, said the statement.

Seven people were killed and 37 others wounded on Saturday in a twin suicide bomb attack in Lebanon's northern port city of Tripoli. The al-Qaida-linked fundamentalist group al-Nusra Front has claimed responsibility for the attack. Endi
