Sporting beats Braga 1-0 in 16th round of Portuguese league

Sporting beat Braga 1-0 on Sunday in the 16th round of the Portuguese league thanks to a last minute goal by Tanaka.

The Japanese forward scored after the 90th minute with a free kick, having entered the game 10 minutes before the end, replacing Colombian forward Fredy Montero.

Sporting's third consecutive victory led it to advance to third place with 33 points.

Braga stands fifth with 28 points and it was its first defeat at home this season.

Also on Sunday, Arouca beat Setubal 1-0, Gil Vicente beat Penafiel 2-1, Rio Ave drew 0-0 with Maritimo and Nacional beat Boavista 2-1. Endi
