5 Policemen among 9 killed in south Pakistan

At least nine people including five policemen were killed and eight others injured in a shoot-out between police and insurgents in southern Pakistan on Saturday, the police said.

Deputy Inspector-General Sanaullah Abbasi said that the cops were carrying out a crackdown against criminals in Ali Talpur area of Mirpurkhas, a district in Sindh province.

He said that during the police raid, the insurgents opened fire, killing five cops including two officers and injuring eight others.

Police killed three insurgents, who were also involved in several cases of robbery and kidnapping for ransom, in their retaliatory attack, Abbasi said.

The injured policemen were shifted to hospital.

Police also arrested several insurgents and sent them to an unidentified location for investigations. Endi
