Sony delays sale of PlayStation 4 in China

Xinhua, January 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Sony will postpone sale of its gaming consoles PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation Vita (PSV) on the Chinese mainland, formerly scheduled to release on Jan. 11, the company said on Thursday.

Sony Computer Entertainment and its Chinese partner Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group said in a statement that the delay was due to "various reasons" and did not give a new sale date.

The delay affects the Japanese company's game consoles PS4, the portable PSV as well as their related products and games.

China saw the release of Microsoft's Xbox One, the first game console legally available in China, in September last year after a 14-year ban on game console sales was lifted. Endi
