Eurozone retail trade up by 0.6 pct last November

The seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade in November rose by 0.6 percent in the eurozone and by 0.8 percent in the European Union (EU), the statistical office of the EU Eurostat said on Thursday.

Compared with November 2013, the retail sales index increased by 1.5 percent in the eurozone and by 2.6 percent in the EU.

Among EU member states for which data are available, the highest increases in total retail trade were registered in Portugal, at 3 percent, followed by Poland with 2.3 percent and Romania with 2.1 percent.

According to the Eurostat,the retail trade in non-food sector and automotive fuel increased 1.5 percent in both areas, contributing the major upwards to the whole retail trade volume. Endit
