Gambia's Bird Airlines suspends commercial flights

Xinhua, January 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Gambia's Bird Airlines has suspended commercial flights until further notice, the airline confirmed to Xinhua on Thursday.

The company said the operational decision was effective since Dec. 30, 2014, but no official reasons have yet been given for the suspension.

"We wish to express our sincere regrets for disrupting the travel plans of those of our esteemed guests who are booked on the suspended flights," the company said, adding it will provide a full refund of all tickets purchased prior to the suspension.

"We will come out with the reasons behind the scene, which will be issued in a statement with details of the flight suspension," said the company.

Scores of people who are preparing to travel abroad were seen queuing at the airline's offices in the past few days to collect refund of tickets purchased prior to the flight suspension. Endi
