3 killed, 30 injured in vehicle pileup accident in Pennsylvania

At least three people died and 30 people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a multiple vehicle accident on Interstate 80 in Clarion County, U.S. State of Pennsylvania.

According to the Clarion County Office of Emergency Services, the accident was reported at around 1:30 p.m.. Seventeen vehicles, including eight tractor trailers, were involved.

The majority of the victims were taken to Clarion Hospital, the office said, adding that one died enroute to the hospital. Two died at the scene.

A lake effect snow squall that began developing at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday resulted in a less-than-200-meter visibility in the area, according to the county branch of the U.S. National Weather Service.

Local police said that the accident was mainly caused by the harsh snow weather. Endit
