Two athletes from the U.S. ski team were killed in an avalanche on Monday while skiing in the western Austrian resort of Soelden, the team said on Monday.

The U.S. ski team said in the statement that the two skiers were Ronnie Berlack, 20, and Bryce Astle, 19.

The team said they were among six athletes free-skiing at the Austrian resort and the other four escaped the disaster.
