Waste pickers in the 'most welcoming library'

Xie Bin left the library after it closed at nine o'clock on Nov. 12. He went back to the basement of a train station where some vagabonds sleep and where he sometimes stays as well. Xie works in a shoe-making factory, but the factory only runs for two to three months each year. The rest of the time, Xie either does some odd jobs or writes poetry at the library all day. He sleeps in basements or on the streets and sometimes searches the street dustbins for food. "I'm not afraid of not being able to find a job. I'm afraid that I cannot find such a quiet place as the library to keep reading and writing," Xie said. [Photo/CFP]
