Cold front to clear smog in north China

Xinhua, November 26, 2014 Adjust font size:

A cold front starting from Wednesday night is expected to disperse the smog in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province.

The National Meteorological Center maintained its "yellow" warning, the second-lowest alert on its four-level scale, as the smog continues to shroud Beijing, Tianjin as well as Hebei, Henan and Shandong provinces on Wednesday.

The cold front, which will arrive on Wednesday night, will help disperse air pollution and improve visibility in these regions, the NMC said.

The smog, however, will be back on Friday in north China and regions along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers when the cold front passes, according to the NMC.

The cold front will bring strong winds and temperatures will likely drop by up to ten degrees Celsius in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and certain parts of the northeastern provinces in the coming two days, it said. Endi
