1st LD Writethru: Eurozone annual inflation up to 0.4 pct in October

Xinhua, October 31, 2014 Adjust font size:

The eurozone's estimated annual inflation rate rose to 0.4 percent in October from 0.3 percent in September, the European Union (EU) statistics office Eurostat said Friday.

Among the main components of eurozone inflation, services were expected to have the highest annual rate in October at 1.2 percent, followed by food, alcohol and tobacco, and non-energy industrial goods.

The figure was well below the European Central Bank's (ECB) target of 2 percent.

From October, the ECB has started to buy loan securities and bonds on a large scale to stimulate the flow of credit into the economy.

However, many officials warned of the postponed effect of the easing monetary policy, suggesting the low inflation rate will not end soon in Europe. Endi
