London, the capital of the United Kingdom, topped the 2014 Global Power City Index (GPCI) with a total score of 1485.8, according to a report released by Mori Memorial Foundation recently.
Japan, which ranked number four on the list, was in the lead among the Asian cities, showing its strong comprehensive power. Four Chinese cities were on the list of the top 10 competitive cities of Asia in 2014, demonstrating China's fast development in terms of its economy, cultural interaction and R&D.
The index scored 40 "representative" global cities and ranked them according to six criteria, including economy, research and development, cultural interaction, livability, environment, and accessibility.
