China Mobile, China's largest wireless service provider, said on Friday that its 4G clients has topped 40 million as of Oct. 3 due to its expanding service coverage.
The company said that it has so far constructed more than 500,000 4G base stations, covering more than 300 cities. It forecast that its 4G users will top 50 million by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, the company also said that it has expanded its 4G roaming service to more than 27 countries and regions including China's Hong Kong and Taiwan, the United States, South Korea, Japan, and Italy.
Last December, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology licensed China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom to operate the home-grown TD-LTE standard, or Time Division - Long Term Evolution, a major variant of the 4G standards with the other being LTE FDD.
China Mobile said that it will further lower its 4G telecom service charges as its LTE 4G technology grows more mature.
