South Africa Trade Statistics in August of 2010
According to the statistics by National Tax Bureau of South Africa, from January to August of 2010, the commodity import & export amounted to US$102.03 billion, increased by 29.4% year on year (same as below). The export was US$50.32 billion, up by 31.0%; and the import was US$51.71 billion, up by 27.8%. The trade deficit was US$1.39 billion, down by 32.7%.
In August, commodity import & export reached US$13.86 billion, up by 33.7%. The export was US$6.56 billion up by 30.8%; and the import was US$7.30 billion, up by 36.5%. The trade deficit was US$0.74 billion, up by 121.9%.
South Africa-China bilateral trade in the first 8 months amounted to US$11.93 billion, up by 28.1%, of which, South Africa’s export to China was US$4.75 billion up by 15.2%, accounting for 9.4% of its total export, 1.3 percentage points up; South Africa’s import from China was US$7.18 billion, up by 38.4%, accounting for 13.9% of its total import, up by 1.1percentage points.
South Africa-China trade deficit was US$2.44 billion in the first 8 months up by 127.6%, accounting for 175.0% of South Africa’s total trade deficit in the same period of last year.
By August, China was South Africa’s largest trading partner, largest export destination and largest import source.
