Statistics on China-Togo Trade and Economic Cooperation in 2010
I. Bilateral Trade
According to statistics by Chinese Customs, China-Togo import & export amounted to US$1.395 billion in 2010,with a year-on-year increase of 19.6%, of which, China’s export to Togo was US$1.333 billion, and import from Togo was US$61.64 million , up by 18% and 69.5% respectively. Main exports include the light textile products, machinery and electrical products, autos, motorbikes and hi-tech products and main imports include cotton, timber, scrap metal, cocoa bean, etc.
II. China’s investment in Togo
The value of newly-signed contracts on China’s direct investment in Togo was about US$3 million in 2010. By the end of the year, the accumulated non-financial direct investment in Togo was about US$30 million, covering the sectors of road, sugar refinery, wood processing, pharmaceutical industry, commerce and restaurant.
III. China’s Contracted Projects
The value of newly-signed contract in 2010 reached about US$212 million, with the turnover of US$56.8 million. By the end of 2010, the accumulated value of signed contracts amounted to US$591 million with the turnover of US$232 million. At present, there are four Chinese companies operating contracted projects in Togo, including China Road & Bridge Corporation, CGCOC Group, China Electronics Engineering Design Institute, and Beijing ZDECO Architecture Decoration Engineering Co., Ltd.
