China became Burundi’s Third Largest Import Source in 2012
According to statistics by Bank of the Republic of Burundi, imports of Burundi in 2012 totaled BIF 1, 084.05 billion, of which imports from China were BIF 98.93 billion, accounting for 9.1% of Burundi’s total imports, ranking the third after Saudi Arabia (BIF122.45 billion) and Belgium-Luxembourg (BIF 109.26 billion).
Statistics also shows that imports of Burundi in 2012 rose by 13.8% compared with that of 2011, of which imports from China were up by 24.6%.
