Statistics on Mainland-Macao Trade and Economic Cooperation in January-September 2011

I. Mainland-Macao Trade

Mainland-Macao trade in January-September 2011 totaled US$ 1.86 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 11.4%, and accounting for 0.07% of Mainland’s total foreign trade, of which Mainland export to Macao was US$ 1. 74 billion, up by 9.3% year-on-year; and its import from Macao was US$ 130 million, up by 54.1% year-on-year.

In September 2011, Mainland-Macao trade reached US$ 230 million, same as that of the previous month, of which Mainland export to Macao was US$ 220 million, same as that of the previous month, and its imports from Macao was US$ 20 million, up by 100% month-on-month.

II. Investment from Macao

In January-September 2011, 218 Macao-invested projects were approved by the Mainland, up by 16.0% year-on-year. The actual utilization of Macao capital decreased 8.3% year-on-year to US$ 490 million. In September 2011, 29 Macao-invested projects were approved by the Mainland, down by 6.5% compared with that of the previous month. And the actual utilization of Macao capital was US$ 60 million, down by 25.0% month-on-month. By the end of September 2011, the accumulated number of Macao-invested projects approved by the Mainland was 12,774 with the actual utilization of Macao capital hitting US$ 10.19 billion, and investment from Macao accounted for 0.9% in China’s absorption of foreign capital.

III. Mainland-Macao Economic Cooperation

In January-September 2011, the number of project contracts won by Mainland in Macao reached 10, with the contract value of US$ 670 million. The turnover amounted to US$ 130 million. By the end of September, the number of labor dispatched to Macao was 52,212, and the accumulated turnover by Mainland in Macao reached US$ 11.68 billion.
