Statistics on Mainland-Macao Trade and Economic Cooperation in January-December 2011

I. Mainland-Macao Trade
Mainland-Macao trade in January-December 2011 totaled US$ 2.52 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 11.2%, and accounting for 0.07% of Mainland’s total foreign trade, of which Mainland export to Macao was US$ 2.36 billion, up by 10.0% year-on-year; and its import from Macao was US$ 160 million, up by 31.3% year-on-year.
In December 2011, Mainland-Macao trade reached US$ 250 million, up by 25.0% month-on-month, of which Mainland export to Macao was US$ 240 million, up by 26.3% month-on-month, while its imports from Macao, and US$ 10 million respectively, same as that of the previous month.
II. Investment from Macao
In January-December 2011, 283 Macao-invested projects were approved by the Mainland, up by 3.28% year-on-year. The actual utilization of Macao capital increased 3.84% year-on-year to US$ 680 million. In December 2011, 20 Macao-invested projects were approved by the Mainland, down by 41.2% month-on-month. And the actual utilization of Macao capital was US$ 20 million, down by 83.3% month-on-month. By the end of December 2011, the accumulated number of Macao-invested projects approved by the Mainland was 12,839 with the actual utilization of Macao capital hitting US$ 10.38 billion, and investment from Macao accounted for 0.9% in China’s absorption of foreign capital.
III. Mainland-Macao Economic Cooperation
In January-December 2011, the number of project contracts won by Mainland in Macao reached 19, with the contract value of US$ 820 million. The turnover amounted to US$ 500 million. By the end of December, the number of labor dispatched to Macao was 58,543, and the accumulated turnover by Mainland in Macao reached US$ 12.05 billion.
