Statistics on Mainland-Macao Trade and Economic Cooperation in January-December 2012

I. Mainland-Taiwan Trade

Mainland-Taiwan trade in January-December 2012 amounted to US$168.96 billion, up by 5.6% year on year, of which, US$ 36.78 billion was Mainland’s export to Taiwan and US$ 132.18 billion was import from Taiwan, up by 4.8% and 5.8% respectively.

In December 2012, Mainland-Taiwan trade was US$16.90 billion, up by 3.1% month on month. Of which Mainland’s export to Taiwan was US$ 4.20 billion, up by 14.5% compared with that of the previous month; and import from Taiwan was US$ 12.70 billion, down by 0.2% compared with that of the previous month.

II. Investment from Taiwan

In January-December, 2012, 2,229 Taiwan-invested projects were approved by the Mainland, down by 15.5% year on year. The actual use of Taiwan capital was US$ 2.85 billion, increased by 30.4% year on year. In December 2012, there were 241 Taiwan-invested projects approved by the Mainland, up by 9.6% month on month. The actual use of Taiwan capital was US$ 280 million, up by 21.7 % month on month.

By the end of December 2012, the accumulated number of Taiwan-invested projects approved by the Mainland was 88,001 with the actual use of US$ 57.05 billion. In terms of utilized capital, Taiwan capital accounts for 4.5% of Mainland accumulated foreign capital.
