Statistics on Mainland-Taiwan Trade and Economic Cooperation in January-February 2013

I. Mainland-Taiwan Trade
Mainland-Taiwan trade in January-February 2013 amounted to US$ 29.05 billion, up by 36.4% year-on-year, of which Mainland export to Taiwan was US$ 5.34 billion, and import from Taiwan was US$ 23.71 billion, up by 23.0% and 39.9% year-on-year respectively. Taiwan ranks 7 in Mainland trading partner, 10 in export market and 4 in import source.
In February 2013, Mainland-Taiwan trade totaled US$ 12.31 billion, down by 26.5% month-on-month, of which Mainland export to Taiwan was US$ 2.18 billion, down by 31.0% month on month, and Mainland import from Taiwan was US$ 10.13 billion, down by 25.4% as compared with that of the previous month.
II. Investment from Taiwan
In January-February, 2013, 237 Taiwan-invested projects were approved by the Mainland, down by 8.9% year-on-year, and utilized Taiwan capital was US$ 480 billion, down by 9.3% year-on-year.
In February 2013, there were 77 Taiwan-invested projects approved by the Mainland, down by 51.9% month-on-month, and the utilized Taiwan capital was US$ 130 million, down by 62.9% month-on-month.
By the end of February 2013, the accumulated number of Taiwan-invested projects approved by the Mainland was 88,238, with utilized Taiwan capital of US$ 57.53 billion. In terms of utilized capital, Taiwan capital accounts for 4.44% of Mainland’s total utilized foreign capital.
