Statistics on Mainland-HK Trade and Investment during January-December 2013

I. Mainland-HK trade

During January-December 2013 amounted to USD 401.01 billion, increasing by 17.5% on a year-on-year basis, accounting for 9.6% of Mainland’s total foreign trade, of which the amount of export to HK was USD 384.79 billion, increasing by 19% on a year-on-year basis, and the amount of import from HK was USD 16.22 billion, decreasing by 9.3% on a year-on-year basis. Hong Kong is the 4th largest trading partner and major export market of the Mainland.

In December 2013, Mainland-HK trade was USD 39.57 billion, growing by 8.7% month on month, of which, Mainland’s amount of export to HK was USD 38.5 billion, going up by 9.7% month on month, and amount of import from HK was USD 1.07 billion, going down by 18.3% month on month.

II. Investment from HK

During January-December 2013, a total of 12,014 HK-invested projects were approved by the Mainland, going down by 4.7% on a year-on-year basis. The actual use of HK capital increased by 11.9% on a year-on-year basis amounted to USD 73.39 billion.

In December 2013, there were 1,224 HK-invested projects approved by the Mainland, down by 4.8% month on month. The actual use of HK capital was USD 8.8 billion, up by 67.4% month on month.

By the end of November 2013, the accumulated number of HK-invested projects approved by the Mainland was 360,898, with the actual use of HK capital of USD 665.67 billion. In terms of actually utilized capital, HK capital accounted for 47.7% of Mainland’s accumulated foreign investment.

III. Mainland-HK Economic Cooperation

During January-December 2013, the Mainland’s contracts for contracted projects in Hong Kong reached 164, with value of USD 3.38 billion. The turnover amounted to USD 3.03 billion, and the population servicing in Hong Kong was 33,820 by the end of month. By the end of December 2013, the accumulated turnover of Mainland enterprises in Hong Kong reached USD 43.35 billion.
