I. Mainland-Taiwan Trade
In January 2014, trade volume between Mainland and Taiwan was USD15.51 billion, decreasing by 7.8% on a year-on-year basis and accounting for 4.1% of China’s total volume of foreign trade. Among that, export to Taiwan was USD 3.51 billion, increasing by 11% on a year-on-year basis; import from Taiwan was USD12 billion, decreasing by 12.1% on a year-on-year basis. Taiwan was our seventh largest trading partner and sixth largest source of import.
II. Investment from Taiwan
In January 2014, a total of 143 Taiwan-invested projects were approved, decreasing by 10.6% on a year-on-year basis; USD260 million of Taiwan investment was actually utilized, decreasing by 25% on a year-on-year basis.
By the end of January 2014, an accumulative amount of 90,161 Taiwan-invested projects were approved, and USD 59.39 billion of Taiwan investment was actually utilized, taking up 4.2% of the total foreign investment.
