Statistics of Mainland-Taiwan Trade and Investment in January-February 2014

I. Mainland-Taiwan Trade
Mainland-Taiwan trade in January-February 2014 amounted to US$ 26.71 billion, down 8.3% year-on-year, and accounting for 4.2% of the total volume of China’s foreign trade. The mainland’s export to Taiwan was US$ 5.61 billion, up 5.2% year-on-year, and the mainland’s import from Taiwan was US$ 21.1 billion, down 11.3% year-on-year. Taiwan is the mainland’s 7th largest trade partner and the 6th largest source of imports.
In February 2014, mainland-Taiwan trade totaled US$ 11.2 billion, down 27.8% month-on-month. The mainland’s export to Taiwan was US$ 2.1 billion, and import from Taiwan was US$ 9.1 billion, down 40.2% and 24.2% month-on-month respectively.
II. Investment from Taiwan
In January-February 2014, 234 Taiwan-funded projects were approved by the mainland, down 1.3% year-on-year; and actually utilized Taiwan capital was US$ 460 million, down by 4.4% year-on-year.
In February 2014, 91 Taiwan-invested projects were approved by the mainland, down 36.4% month-on-month, and the actually utilized Taiwan capital was US$ 200 million, down 22.4% month-on-month.
By the end of February 2014, 90,252 Taiwan-invested projects were approved by the mainland, and the actually utilized Taiwan capital was US$ 59.59 billion, accounting for 4.2% of the total utilized investment of the mainland from overseas.
