Statistics of Mainland-Taiwan Trade and Investment in January-July 2014

I. Mainland-Taiwan Trade
Mainland-Taiwan trade in January-July 2014 amounted to US$110.5 billion, down 6% year on year, and accounting for 4.6% of the total volume of the mainland’s external trade. The mainland’s export to Taiwan was US$25.77 billion, up 6.4% year on year, and the mainland’s import from Taiwan was US$84.73 billion, down 9.2% year on year. Taiwan is the mainland’s 7th largest trade partner and the 6th largest source of imports.
In July 2014, mainland-Taiwan trade totaled US$17.68 billion, up 6.9% month on month. The mainland’s export to Taiwan was US$4.8 billion, up 23.4% month on month, and import from Taiwan was US$12.88 billion, up 1.9% month on month.
II. Investment from Taiwan
In January-July 2014, 1,284 Taiwan-funded projects were approved in the mainland, up 10.2% year on year, and actually utilized Taiwan capital was US$1.47 billion, up 3.3% year on year.
In July 2014, 234 Taiwan-invested projects were approved in the mainland, down 2.9% month on month, and the actually utilized Taiwan capital was US$150 million, down 65.8% month on month.
By the end of July 2014, 91,302 Taiwan-invested projects were approved in the mainland, and the actually utilized Taiwan capital was US$60.6 billion, accounting for 4.1% of the total utilized investment of the mainland from overseas.
