China urges Palestine, Israel to cease fire

China is deeply concerned about the Palestine-Israel tensions and calls for an immediate ceasefire, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

"China is deeply concerned about the escalating tensions between Palestine and Israel and believes that military forces cannot resolve the issues, but create more feud," spokesman Hong Lei said at a daily press briefing.

Hong's comments came after Israeli war jets launched a large-scale offensive on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday with more than 100 airstrikes on militant targets, killing 27 people and wounding 100 others.

"We urge the related parties to take into account the aspirations for peace and people's safety, seek an immediate ceasefire, stick to the strategic choice of peace talks and resume talks at an early date," Hong said. Endi
