China has made headway in the accreditation of environmentally-friendly energy products and solutions, with more than 24,000 certificates issued by March 2014, according to the national accreditation body on Monday, also "World Accreditation Day".
A total of 24,479 certificates were granted for products and management solutions in the sectors of energy saving, renewable energy and new energy as of the end of March, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CAAC) announced.
Energy saving products certified in 2013 alone could help save 44.35 million tonnes of standard coal and cut 163 million tonnes of carbon emissions, the administration added.
Last year, the administration established three new accreditation systems and enacted 99 new certification standards, with 153,200 new certificates handed out during the same period, according to its director Sun Dawei.
Sun also revealed that the accreditation in renewable and new energy sectors including wind power and photovoltaic will be a focus of future research and study.
CAAC data showed China topped the world with the issuance of 1.23 million certificates as of March 2014.
