In recent years, a large number of outstanding businessmen, scholars and policy makers have emerged and helped shape the country's entrepreneurial and economic path.

Fortune China magazine has published its most recent list of China's most influential business people. A total of 50 leaders, who have made great contributions to China's economic development, made it onto the list. These representatives all stem from a variety of industries, including e-commerce, real estate, health care, home appliances, mobile telecommunication and non-profit organizations.

This year's top award went to 42-year-old e-commerce giant Ma Huateng, also known as Pony Ma. His company -- Tencent, Inc. or China's largest Internet service portal -- ranked No. 3 globally last year, with a market value of US$100 billion, only behind Google and Amazon. The success of WeChat shows the whole world the outstanding creativity of the Chinese.
