Han Qide, who won the reelection for CPAPD chairman, said that at the non-governmental diplomacy level, societies such as the CPAPD should not merely follow the steps of the country's governmental diplomacy, but "take full advantage of opportunities to create necessary condition for China's overall diplomacy," especially on the grass-root level.

The CPAPD was established by various prestigious figures in June of 1985. It currently parents 25 sub-societies in active contact with more than 300 similar non-governmental societies across some 90 countries.
