Gao Honghui spent three hours sitting by his brother's tomb, with thoughts about the two brothers' happy moments rushing into his mind. At first, he blamed his brother for taking things to an extreme, but his feelings soon shifted to deep remorse. "If only I had enlightened you at that time," he said.
On Dec. 17, 2013, Gao Honghui received a successful kidney transplant in Hefei after a six-hour operation. He recovered fast, but still could not quite accept the fact that his brother committed suicide to save him.
"If my brother lived, maybe we could have both got cured," he said.
Long after the young boy died, his mother still dwelled on his death. She insisted that her son had just traveled to a remote place. But in fact, the boy had gone, leaving behind the suicide note, pinning all his hopes on his brother.
