Chen Ting, a 23-year-old girl dying of cancer, wed her sweetheart on her bed in a hospital in Chongzhou City of southwest China's Sichuan Province on Tuesday, Scol.com.cn reported.
"I love her very much," Yang Heng, the bridegroom, said during the wedding ceremony. "I will do all I can to look after her, keep her company until death do us part and fulfill her dreams."
Chen was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer in early November of last year. Weighing less than 60 kilograms, she was injected with a heavy dose of morphine every day to kill the pain and could sleep no more than one hour a day.
However, despite her deteriorating condition, she insisted on wearing a wedding dress on her big day. "We agreed to hold a wedding ceremony in 2014, before she got ill. Marrying me in a wedding dress was her dream," Yang explained.
The young couple met in 2009 and obtained a marriage certificate in August of 2012. Yang quit his job to look after Chen as soon as he learned the shocking news. He is now maintaining a constant bedside vigil with his mother and Chen's mother.
One wedding company offered the couple free ceremony services together with a group of volunteers.
