Wu Changshuo (1844-1927) was a renowned painter, calligrapher and seal-carver in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Being a representative of the Sea Painting School, Wu achieved great recognition in free-style flower painting and employed burin and calligraphy in paintings, thus creating a characteristic style. His brightly colored works are considered to be of high aesthetic value.
