'Chinese Dream' Education Campaign Debuts

An education and publicity campaign related to the "Chinese dream" debuted on Tuesday, with Environment Minister Zhou Shengxian delivering a lecture on environmental protection.
Zhou said China must attach equal importance to economic development and environmental protection, adding that preventing the degradation of air, water and soil quality must be prioritized.
He also stressed efforts to restructure China's industries, cap coal consumption, improve fuel quality and protect rural areas.
The campaign was jointly launched by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the Working Committee for Organs Directly Under the CPC Central Committee, the Working Committee for Organs Directly Under the State Council, the Ministry of Education, the PLA General Political Department and the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.
Tuesday's lecture was attended by representatives from government agencies, the military, Beijing-based state-owned enterprises and university teachers and students.
The "Chinese dream" is a concept introduced by President Xi Jinping that is widely understood to represent the renewal of China.
