To improve efficiency in delivery system

Ashwani Mutthoo, IFAD’s Director of Global Engagement, Knowledge and Strategy Division, calls for financing for inclusive rural transformation

Ashwani Mutthoo, IFAD’s Director of Global Engagement, Knowledge and Strategy Division, offered insights on efficiency in delivery system. Based on his 40-year evaluation in China, he spoke highly of China for its excellent work in poverty reduction: “It’s about the efficiency in delivery system, from the national level to the local level. Things do happen when projects are designed and implemented on time. So the institutional agriculture is very conducive to promote transformation in rural poverty reduction.” He further pointed out that “in China, the concern is the issue of environmental sustainability” which needs to be addressed in all aspects of development, and in particular when designing agricultural policies and projects.
