Nepali Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) at the Department of Health Services has started a media campaign to spread awareness about A/H1N1 in several parts of the country.

According to Thursday's myrepublica. com, Dr Senendra Raj Upreti, director of the EDCD, said on Wednesday that they were coordinating with several non-governmental organizations for the campaign to battle against the influenza.

"We will raise awareness among the people using TV commercials, radio jingles and brochures," Upreti said.

The Nepali government has decided to intensify surveillance mechanisms and awareness programs across the country to contain Nepal's first reported cases of the A/H1N1 virus.

Three cases of the pandemic influenza A/H1N1 have been detected in Nepal.

The US-based non-resident Nepali couple and their eight-year-old son who on Sunday were diagnosed with the pandemic A/H1N1 virus have recovered, local media reported on Thursday.

"They have recovered and are normal like us now. They don't have any symptom of the disease now," Director of the Epidemiologyand Disease Control Division Dr Senendra Raj Uprety was quoted by myrepublica.com as saying. "They will be allowed to walk along freely after a few days," he added.
