The number of confirmed Influenza A/H1N1 cases rose to 587 in New Zealand on Monday, with 64 new cases confirmed since Sunday.

Two hundred and eighty-six of the cases were current, said Ministry of Health spokeswoman Julz Britnell.

In the past week, another 70 cases of A/H1N1 flu had been reported in Auckland, 77 in Wellington and 88 in Christchurch. Twelve new cases had been reported in Waikato, and eight in Bay of Plenty, she said.
