Singapore Confirms 6 More Cases of A/H1N1 Flu

Singapore on Friday night confirmed six more cases of A/H1N1 flu, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 27.
According to a statement by the country's Health Ministry, the first new case is a 6-year-old Australian male, and the second new case is a 7-year-old Australian female. They are siblings in a family of five and came to Singapore from Melbourne together with their family for holidays on Thursday. Laboratory results confirmed their infection later Friday.
The third new case is a 12-year-old Singaporean male who is studying in Melbourne. He arrived in Singapore from Melbourne via Perth on Monday. He was confirmed infection later Friday. The fourth new case is a 15-year-old Singaporean male who is studying in the United States. He returned to Singapore from San Francisco via Tokyo on Thursday. Laboratory results confirmed his infection later Friday.
The fifth new case is a 39-year-old Singaporean female, and the sixth new case is a 3-year-old Singaporean male. They are mother and son who went to Melbourne for holidays on 3 June. They, who returned to Singapore on Tuesday, were confirmed infection later Friday.
Singapore reported its first confirmed case of Influenza A/H1N1on May 27, and to date, 15 of the 27 confirmed cases have been discharged from hospital. The remaining 12 patients are still in hospital and their conditions remain stable.
On Friday night, Singapore's Health Ministry also said that theA/H1N1 flu alert level in the city state will remain at yellow, but the shift to mitigation measures may be inevitable.
