A recent poll showed that 25 percent of Singaporeans will avoid those who have been quarantined for Influenza A/H1N1, local media reported on Monday.

According to TV broadcaster Channel News Asia, a recent online poll of some 4,700 Singaporeans showed that some 25 percent said they would avoid those who were previously quarantined, even after they have been given the all-clear. The poll also showed that 15 percent of the respondents were unsure if they should stay away because they did not know enough about the H1N1 flu.

The report said that some sociologists believe that it is due to the fact that not much is known about the H1N1 strain, and many of them are afraid of being infected by others.

Singapore reported the first case of Influenza A/H1N1 on May 27.The country confirmed its latest case of Influenza A/H1N1 on Saturday, bringing the number of total cases here to 15.
