The number of confirmed cases of Influenza A/H1N1 remained at nine in New Zealand on Wednesday, but the suspected cases was 21, down from 38 on Tuesday.
New Zealand's Ministry of Health said on Wednesday the number of suspected cases fluctuated as more people with symptoms arriving from affected areas were assessed and treated, and as laboratory testing ruled out some suspected cases.
The country has had nine known cases and 10 probable cases -- and all the people involved had fully recovered.
While the number of cases in New Zealand remained stable, the National Health Coordination Center (NHCC) was working with the health sector and wider government agencies to make sure the country was well prepared in case the situation worsened, deputy director of public health Fran McGrath said.
