Australian Health Minister Nicola Roxon announced on Saturday there were 28 people in Australia awaiting test results for A/H1N1 flu.
"We do currently have a number of people, including a family, who have tested positive to influenza A," Roxon told reporters in Melbourne.
"We're likely to have the results of those (tests) either late tonight or first thing tomorrow morning," Australian Associated Press quoted the minister as saying.
Roxon said the positive influenza A test meant that those affected were getting to the last stages of testing, when it would become clear whether they had the H1N1 strain of the flu.
Last week, an Australian woman was found in east Australia to have contracted A/H1N1 flu while traveling in the United States in late April but later tests showed she was no longer infectious and was free to return home.
