The total number of confirmed human A/H1N1 flu cases has jumped to 2,532 in 44 US states, with three deaths, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported on Sunday.

According to the CDC, the state of Illinois has 466 confirmed cases of the A/H1N1 flu, followed by 357 of Wisconsin, 282 of California, 190 of New York and 182 of Arizona.

The number of confirmed cases on Saturday was 2,254 with 104 people hospitalized.

The increase in the number of confirmed cases showed that the ongoing outbreak of the novel influenza continues to expand in the United States. CDC officials have said they expect the flu to spread to all 50 US states, causing severe disease and some deaths.
