The Indonesian government on Friday issued a travel advisory for its citizens traveling in areas allegedly affected by influenza A/H1N1 alerting them from possible virus infection, an official said.
"Indonesians traveling in Mexico and north America are advised to increase their alert on all possibilities from getting infected by swine flu that attacks human respiratory system," Indonesian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Teuku Faizasyah told a press conference here Friday.
For those who planned to go to the region, the Indonesian government called them to postpone their trip or alter their routes, he added.
The travel advisory is part of government's steps to prevent and anticipate the spreading of swine flu virus, he added.
A/H1N1 influenza virus has been active in Mexico and north America since March this year. The virus is responsible for the death of almost 100 people in Mexico with 1,000 others suspected of suffering from the influenza.
