It took some 6 hours for more than 100 armed policemen in a swift mobilization to consolidate 80 cubic meters of the batardeau with some 3,800 sand bags in their emergency operation to obviate the peril of dyke-burst and guarantee the safety of 10,000 local people. National Meteorological Center (NMC) warned Thursday that torrential rains are expected to pound the nation's badly-flooded southern regions over the next two days. [Xinhua]
