ASEAN Health Ministers to Discuss Influenza A/H1N1 Issue in Thailand

Health ministers of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries are scheduled to meet in Thailand on May 8 to discuss influenza A/H1N1 issue, said an ASEAN statement.

The planned meeting of the ASEAN health ministers was proposed by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen after the new flu virus spread around the globe, according to the ASEAN press release received on Saturday.

ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan made the announcement here on Friday, the release issued by the ASEAN secretariat said.

In addition, the ASEAN public Health officials will discuss the influenza A issue with the Atlanta-based disease control center, the release said.

ASEAN groups Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar.
